To Ears With Love: Podcasts to Scare You Silly (If 2020 Hasn’t Done it Already)

Share

To Ears with Love is here to give you a list of some fantastic podcasts to check out during 2020’s spooky season. We know this year has been rough, but in good news we’ve gotten some new spooky casts with people stuck indoors so much. Here are some of the highlights for this year. Some you may have heard of, some may be brand new to you.

Jack of All Graves

Hosts Corri and Mark talk both fictional and real life horror from their respective places in the world. Corri represents the United States, and Mark brings the Welsh accent. They somehow keep it fun and entertaining. even when discussing photographs of murder victims and public suicides. Ignore my description and just listen, because its far better than I can describe. Recently, they had a friend of the podcast watch Child’s Play for the first time, and that was hysterical. Even better, if you follow their Twitter page they regularly make GIFS of their video recording and post them.  Jack of All Graves is on most major listening platforms.

Poisoner’s Cabinet

Every Friday, Nick and Sinead of The Poisoner’s Cabinet sit down with a drink and investigate the history of some of the world’s most famous poisoners. The cocktails they drink are inspired by the case they discuss. While this is of course more on the true crime realm of things, it ticks all the boxes of tragic accidents, Victorian macabre, humor and creep factors.  This podcast is available wherever you listen to podcasts.

The Q Files

Hosts Shane McClelland and Lori Gum are here to give you all the strange. Most recently, they’ve done a deep dive of The Donner Party. If you’re looking for a podcast that covers everything from the Flatwoods Monster to Stigmata, you’re in good hands with The Q Files.  This podcast is available on almost all major platforms.

Stories With Sapphire

Sapphire Sandalo,  formerly of the Something Scary podcast, has struck out on her own to create a podcast that features scary stories that are more culturally aware. Her area of focus is Filipino folklore and true stories from her family, but the podcast is also open to other cultures as the horror stories they tell.  Be advised, as Sandalo is somewhat regularly recording television episodes for The Travel Channel, so this one does go on Hiatus from time to time, but she just started her third series of episodes.

Realm of the Weird

If you’ve been involved in the paranormal research world, you’ve probably come across the inimitable John E.L. Tenney.  Tenney is basically involved in like any aspect of high strangeness you can think of. He was trained by a JFK theorist, and can talk about anything from elves, to UFOS, to ghosts, to a weird creepy mannequin head.  For those who can’t travel to attend one of his weird lectures (and that’s all of us right now), his podcast Realm of the Weird is an absolute delight. The only downside is I wish there were more episodes.  Tenney encourages listeners to open their minds and realize that it just might all be connected. You can find Realm of the Weird on most major podcast platforms.

The Hidden Djinn

If you loved the podcast Serial...okay, I know that’s a weird way to start this out, but the amazing Rabia Chaudry from Serial has teamed up with Aaron Mahnke’s (of Lore fame) production studio Grim and Mild to produce an incredible podcast on the Djinn.  I ended up power listening to The Hidden Djinn after a recommendation from one of my beloved weirdo family members from The Traveling Museum of the Paranormal and the Occult forum. Holy Moly, this podcast is great and full of information that unless you’ve done a deep dive on Djinn, you probably haven’t heard before.
