Nasrin Sotoudeh is an outspoken supporter of human rights and an attorney in the country of Iran. On November 10th of this year, she was released from prison due to health reasons after a hunger strike that lasted over 40 days in the notorious Evin prison. The new documentary, Nasrin, was filmed secretly by men and women in Iran, all risking arrest if they were caught. The film features interviews with Jafar Panahi, Nobel Peace laureate Shirin Ebadi, journalist Ann Curry, and Nasrin’s husband and fellow-activist Reza Khandan. Directed and produced by narrator Jeff Kaufman, the film is narrated by Academy Award winning actress Olivia Colman, and features an original song by Tony award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
