Prepare for romance this Christmas as Netflix brings to screen Bridgerton. The series is based off the novels written by Julia Quinn, where the eldest daughter of the Bridgerton family, Daphne, has debuted. Debuting is where a young woman officially comes out to society that she is ready to be courted and wed. In this case things are just not going so well. Driven in high anxiety thanks to the gossip sheets written by the unknown Lady Whistledown, Daphne’s mother is even more driven to see that her daughter succeeds in marriage. The problem for Daphne is that she’s too much of a “friend” and no one has courted her romantically. Enter in a scene of extreme coincidence is the Duke of Hastings who offers a scandalous solution.
If the series is anything like the Quinn novels, then viewers will be in for some real entertainment. There will be expectations of steamy romantic moments but also quirky sibling squabbles. The novel series cover the romantic antics of all EIGHT Bridgerton siblings, siblings where alphabetically named. So you can figure out that Daphne is the fourth child, eldest daughter, with four very, very overprotective brothers.
Bonus info: the series will be narrated by Julie Andrews as Lady Whistledown! Christmas magic indeed!

For those who cannot wait until Christmas to get to know the family, start with the first book of the series: “The Duke and I”. I can already tell from the trailer that the way our hero and heroine meet might be a tad different and less funny? We’ll see…..
