Well….happy birthday to me.
Today marks the release of Ahoy Comics Edgar Allen Poe’s Snifter of Blood #3.
This third issue has four stories and continues the arc of seriously funny offerings from Ahoy comics and their chosen writers. With story titles such as The Mystery of Marie Roget, The Cask of Amontillado – Rediscovered and Meat The Parents this new issue doesn’t fail to be as good as it’s predecessors. In fact, I liked these stories a lot. Meat The Parent’s is probably my second favorite of these shorts to be added. Story wise.
Art wise, I am a sucker for The Mystery of Marie Roget, mostly becasue an illustrated part of The Pit and The Pendulum can’t go wrong. And, hello, super scary yet amazing Blessed Ligeia.
In all honesty, I could gush for a another 300 words about this collection. There’s a nod to Sherlock that is delightful. And then there is the future Poe. A descendant who is determined to not lose his ancestor’s memory, who goes on to re-imagine (see; The cask rediscovered) the dead man’s words. Like I said, I could gush forever. But really, if you like Poe, if you enjoy humor, if your mind often goes down dark roads, these collections are a perfect read.
