Happy Hour #4

Gloom be upon thee, brother.

Welcome back to Happy Hour, the comic that shows you a near future where sadness is illegal and things are just plain effed up.  Back again for more forced hilarity, more sex, nudity, and more pain. Happy Hour #4 doesn’t pull any punches and you’re immediately back in this weird position of being interested in the comic at the same time that you’re going, “eww, come on now.”

In the last issue Hamm, a double agent (triple agent?) ends up killed and now there is an Agent McPshyco Agent doing her level best to keep the joy going strong. She of course makes that happen via pain, but that makes sense, doesn’t it?

And of course, out titular heroes (I think they’re closer to anti- heroes at this point) Kim and Jerry continue to try to find a place where the Joy Police can’t get them. Along the way they have kinky sorta awful sex, get sick, get all but kidnapped by a hospital, and then when they do find what they’re looking for, it’s not at all what it should be.

I can’t imagine going from the readjustment center that tried to force happiness, to the commune policed by the Angst Unit.  It does beg the question of, what is worse? Forced Joy or forced Sadness?

Happy Hour #4 is out today from Ahoy Comics, and it is NSFW in every sense. If you can stomach the growing levels of squick, it’s a solid story.
