Back in business with the Space Bastards, this second issue brings you back in time to the beginning of it all!
In this issue we learn that Roy Sharpton, after starting and losing multiple business ventures, including sexbots, ends up broke. It’s that brokenness that sets up him up for buying the postal service from The United Tribal Nations for 24 credits and a coupon for ribs. Because that is all how great new ventures start, isn’t it?
This issue, just like the first, is off the wall bonkers in the best possible way. You almost never can tell what might come next and it’s worth takign your time to pull very bit of magic out of these pages.
If you are easily offended this is definitely not the comic for you. Even in space there is a lot of casual cultural appropriation by Mr. Sharpton. He does have people under his new employ, at the soul and money sucking postal service, who try to get him to change his ways, but he’s pretty deaf to anyone with an actual brain. Add in the fact that he started his insane brand of postal delivery via mercenaries with a kick to one of his workers crotch, before causing an all out brawl in his warehouse, we learn Sharpton is clearly not a good dude. He might not be the actual bad guy in this series, but he is a bad guy.
He sells carnage as a solid paying job and turns a once boring position as a mail man into a gauntlet that pays more the more you destroy. But never the package, that is safe, always. It’s fascinating in it’s deplorable truth.
Space Bastard: Tooth and Mail #2 drops today and you should definitely grab it up. Make sure you have a strong stomach though.
