In 1993, David Holthouse overheard the story of three Mexican men being torn apart by what was described as a Sasquatch. As an investigative journalist, the story has always haunted him, but he was busy with demons of his own. Holthouse has infiltrated White hate groups, gangs, and gone on multiple dangerous investigations. As he began to investigate the murder in Mendocino County, he quickly discovered that it is known for a couple of things: Bigfoot sightings and cannabis farming. What follows is a three-episode documentary series following a mystery that ends up involving marijuana, murder, and the haunting of a figure that may or may not exist.
Directed by Joshua Rofe, Sasquatch is full of seemingly random information, but is expertly compiled in a way that makes the viewer quickly understand just what Bigfoot has to do with all of this. Keep in mind, this film is mostly about murder and the inflation of individual reputations. If you’re looking for a documentary that is solely Sasquatch or Bigfoot stories, this is not it. I would recommend Seth Breedlove or Greg and Dana Newkirk for that. If you’re looking for a Bat-doo crazy story this series is it.
