Cartoonist Katja Klengel looks at the more difficult subjects a woman faces in her new graphic novel Girlsplaining: A (Sorta) Memoir. Focusing on issues like body shaming, sexual exploration, and media representation, Klengel takes readers through an exploration of what it means to be a woman, sometimes in intimate detail.
Girlsplaining does not shy away from sexual topics, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for a super young adult, but rather someone in early womanhood or someone wanting to see a woman’s exploration of the strange things women go through. It is a smart, enjoyable, and woman-positive look.
