Edgar Allen Poe’s Snifter of Blood #6

Welcome back to the land of absurdity! Edgar Allen Poe’s Snifter of Blood is here to give you more insanity via comics and short stories! This offering gives you new instant classics such as The Mask of the Red Death, Bon-Bon, Sedate Expectations, Your Tourist Dollars, and When The Sandwich Comes For You.

This go around gives you two comics and three short stories, which seems to be a winning combination for Ahoy writers.

Mask of The Red Death starts you off with a cranky Poe upset at what was done to his story. Instead of deep, rich colors and clarity, you get cheesy superhero ideas. It’s not bad, but I could see why comic Poe has a heart attack over it. Funny but not eloquent, Mask Of The Red Death is still a story of opulence here.

Next you get Bon-Bon and I gotta say, this one was my favorite of the set. How can you go wrong with flaming hair? Really?

You call that devouring? I call that pathetic and uninspired.

Bon-Bon is set half in hell and half in New York and tells the story of Rufus Wilmot Griswold, who is not a nice man. And he absolutely gets what he deserves, which is nice. Also, that tiny lil red devil? Super cute.

The last three stories in this issue are the written word, in it’s funniest form. Sedate Expectations, Your Tourist Dollars, and When The Sandwich Comes For You bring you even more insanity. Expectations is a long form poem about sisters who might be mad, Tourist dollars suggest sex for warmth and Sandwich makes you think twice about your favorite foods. The three of them together will have you snort laughing.

I have not yet been dissapointed by an Ahoy comics offering and Edgar Allen Poe’s Snifter of Blood #6 definitely does keeps that trend going. It was released yesterday March 31st, and it is worth picking up a copy of.
