“What If?” Lets Marvel Play in this Teaser

Share

What if Killmonger saved Tony Stark from that shrapnel in his heart? Would Stark be a better person? Would Killmonger? Or would the later be able to set his revenge in motion early?

What if Peggy Carter got to shine as Captain Carter? Would Steve even be around?

What if zombies happened to the Marvel heroes? Who would succumb and how badly?

What if the Ravagers kidnapped T’Challa rather than Peter Quill?

What if hearing Chadwick Boseman take on the the role for the last time didn’t make you cry?

We will have ten episodes to watch Marvel tackle these questions, starting on August 11, 2021.

As with the comics bearing the same name, viewer mileage on this is going to vary a lot. Some of this stuff is exciting and interesting to the casual watcher (me), some is going to be far more effective to people who know enough to recognize the head-in-a-jar on sight (Feel free to identify him for me in the comments).

The animation in this trailer is good but not exciting: The characters are all recognizable as themselves, and the action makes as much sense as trailers ever do, but there are no “Wow” moments here. What I hope is that there will be some “wow” moments in the actual trailers: Will T’Challa being a Ravager make a real difference to the shape of the universe? Will he take the team to new places and actually turn back (or bring on?) an enemy early? Or will he just fill Quill’s disaffected shoes?

I hope to see some radical changes. What do you hope? Which character do you most want reshaped?
