Well….
Snow Angels Season 2 #2 starts as always, right where the last one left off. And that means Milli and Mae were in trouble. They continue to stay in trouble throughout.
The giant mech suit they found doesn’t last against the new humans they encounter and when dragged into a cave system, the two sisters learn even more about the world outside the Trench. The world they’d thought was empty. The Keepers (the cave dwelling humans who speak a different language than Milli and Mae) end up being exactly what you think an ‘end of the world’ cult might be like, and they plan to use the girls in a way in which you might can guess. Or at least, I saw that coming. Maybe you will too.
What I didn’t see coming, and what I’m still unsure about is; the Snowman. Or the human(/android?) in the mech suit who the sisters calls the Snowman and who I wonder if isn’t trying to keep them safe. That is part of what I like about this series so much. You get info, but not so much that you know all that is going to happen, but you aren’t left so in the dark that you can’t make some guesses. it makes reading Snow Angels even more fun, becasue every know and then you get to go, “I guessed that that!”
As well as a great story, the art of Snow Angels is pretty spectacular too. The bare color palate and spare use of vibrant red is eye catching in the best way. You always know when something is about to go down when the red appears. It’s a nifty art trick and I appreciate how Jock uses it here.
All in all, this is a great second issue and even though the ending left my heart in my throat, I can’t wait to see what happens next. I have some ideas but finding out if I’m right or wrong will have to wait.
