Hades is in charge of categorizing the dead. When an influx of souls arrive with no knowledge of how they died, Hades heads to Mt. Olympus to see if he can get some clarity from Zeus. Unfortunately, he arrives in the middle of a party for Athena, and Zeus is frustrated he’s brought down the mood. Zeus soon learns that Hades has a secret crush, and he wants to know just who that person is. At home with Demeter, Persephone is begging to go to the party. After all, she’s prepped the ambrosia and all the decorations. Demeter is not into allowing her only daughter to go party with the gods. Turns out Hades’ feelings for Persephone are very mutual.
Punderworld Volume 1 is great fun. The art is beautiful, Hades and Persephone are both awkward and charming, and it is way less rapey that the original stories of the two of them. Author and artist Linda Sejic has created a wonderful graphic novel and I can’t wait to read more!
