At least in Texas, the air has finally stopped being scorching. Pumpkin spice is everywhere. For this brief shining moment, I don’t get nonsense for loving horror (but instead get asked for recommendations). Here are some newer graphic novels and comics to enjoy as we enjoy the days up to Halloween.
Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done?
True Crime readers get a grisly and extremely detailed look at the Ed Gein murders. I really didn’t need to see a drawing of the infamous nipple belt, but here we are. Be advised that parts of this graphic novel are extremely gruesome and nightmarish. There’s lots of religious and parental trauma.
Sheets: The Collectors Edition
If your tastes run to more cute creeps, Sheets is fantastic. The graphic novel follows thirteen-year-old Marjorie Glatt, stuck working at her family’s laundromat. She befriends a ghost named Wendell, and the two become awkward friends As Marjorie tries to balance her life and Wendell his afterlife.
While we know Bela Lugosi as one of the most iconic horror actors to ever grace the screen, the end of his life was its own horror story. After years of drug use, his body began to weaken. This graphic novel relives the life of the man most know as Dracula and the struggles he faced throughout his tragic life.
