‘Hecate’s Will’ Is the Comic a Generation Running on Burnout Needs

Share

NYC graffiti legend Hecate is burned out. She’d always hoped to change the world through art, but with despair taking over she decides to do one last street- art experience and then retire. The plan is to create a graffiti scavenger hunt through Manhattan, leading to her final artistic vision.  Hecate’s best friend, meanwhile, lovingly cons her into being the costme designer for a local LGBTQIA+ artists group that are putting on a production of Rent. It’s the one actress that shows up late that leads Hecate into a storm of emotions.

Writer and illustrator Iolanda Zanfardino is a talent to watch. Her recent work with Black Mask has included work like Alice in Leatherland and Hecate’s Will.  The first issue runs 32 pages and is full of fabulous art, including Hecate’s street art. With so many people experiencing burnout and isolation, this is the perfect comic to pick up right now.

Hecate’s Will #1 is now available. Issue #2 comes out January 19th.
