Long live the Welsh. Academy Award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has joined the cast of the new Disney+ series National Treasure. The live-action series continues the successful movie franchise, now following Jess (Lisette Alexis) as she works to uncover secrets of her family’s past and save a “lost Pan-American treasure.” As always, Zeta-Jones will play a badass. Her character, Billie is described as:
..,a badass billionaire, black-market antiquities expert, and treasure hunter who lives by her own code. She transformed herself from a penniless orphan to a shrewd, stylish businesswoman and adventurer. Billie’s used to getting what she wants—and she wants the Pan-American treasure. But not just for the money. This treasure has deeper stakes for her.
Production on National Treasure is expected to start this month in Baton Rouge.
