Nat Reeves expects the most difficult part of her day to be picking up her sister later, but the supernatural world has other plans. When she runs by her apartment to drop off her effects, she comes into contact with her neighbor Wilfred and a young woman with a tail. The woman is bleeding profusely from her side, a strange burn on her hand. With no other choice, Nat calls her former place of employment, St. Lillith’s. This is a supernatural hospital for supernatural creatures, and one that Nat never thought she’d have to return to again. Underfunded, and full of overworked staff, St. Lillith’s is the only supernatural hospital in the area, and one where Dr. Reeves once practiced. She’ll have to put aside her feelings to save a friend.
Issue #1 of The Ward is like a fast paced of ER, albeit with Minotaurs, goblins, and ghosts. The background scenes in this comic are almost as much fun as the action itself. While The Ward #1 takes itself very seriously, it’s extremely easy to jump right into the story.
