‘Mother Christmas’ Volume 1 Explores How a Muse and Saint Nicholas Save Humanity

Share

Mother Christmas Volume One introduces us to Amara, one of the legendary Muses of the House of Polyhymnia. A thousand years ago, while Christianity spread across the world, Pagan circles existed side by side. Amara is sent by her fellow Muses to the town of Lycia, where she meets a brother and sister that offer her hospitality and kindness. Amara promises to keep close to the sister and keep her protected while Nicholas explores the life of his new religion. Amara must keep humankind safe from creatures that feed on fear and disorder, but soon discovers that Nicholas may be the one to help her stand up against the creatures. While the Kobaloi plot and plan to cause horrors, Amara may have to break the laws of the Muses to save everyone.

Mother Christmas Volume One: The Muse is enjoyable and not overwhelmingly Christmas-y, just in case you aren’t ready to dive into the season fully just yet. Valya Dudycz Lupescu and Vic Terra do a beautiful job of creating a complex world that doesn’t vilify either Christianity or Paganism, but rather show the positive natures of both. Amara is a fascinating figure that truly brings the history to life and helps to make Nicholas a much more interesting figure.

Mother Christmas Volume One: The Muse is available now from Rosarium Publishing.
