‘The Neighbors #1’ Combines the Struggle of Blended Family with Irish Mythology

Janet and Oliver Gowdie move to a tiny mountain time to restart their lives. Casey, Janet’s daughter, makes it a very big point that she is never going to call Oliver dad and that she’s deeply upset about her mom leaving her dad from Oliver.  The next-door neighbor, Agnes Early, seems fixated on the other child, 2-year-old Isobel.  When Casey answers the door to a man named Tom Shuck, she makes it known she know that her mother didn’t call anyone to help. Only, Tom doesn’t take no for an answer. Casey is pulled into the realm of her neighbors.

Jude Ellison S. Doyle from Maw joins artist Letizia Cadonici and colorist Alessandro Santoro in this new comic book series based on Irish and English folklore. For those well read in the ideas of the fae, you’ll pick up where this is going pretty quickly. If you’re not familiar with the mythos, the series will be a lot more surprising.

The Neighbors #1 is available March 22, 2023 in comic book stores and digital.
