‘When I Arrived at the Castle’ Is a Visceral and Stunning Graphic Novel

Silver Sprocket Press has announced the rerelease of the graphic novel When I Arrived at the Castle, by Emily Carroll. The work was originally published by Koyama Press but is returning to stores under the new label on April 10, 2024. This gothic thriller is beautifully illustrated and full of sapphic eroticism.

A woman that appears with cat features arrives at a gothic castle, soaked to the skin and freezing cold. Her host offers her the heat of a fire, a drink, and a warm bath. Like Carmilla or Dracula, the vibes of this graphic novel quickly turn dark and erotic with an interesting game of cat-girl and murderous mouse. The illustrations are done in black and white, with red coloration used to highlight and emphasize particular scenes. The artwork is stunningly gorgeous, while the story maintains the qualities of a nightmare one is just waking up from.

When I Arrived at the Castle is available for preorder now.
