The band Ghost has a great deal of lore behind it, but until now the important character of Sister Imperator hasn’t been examined too closely. Lead singer of Ghost, Tobias Forge, has teamed up with writer Corinna Bechko to tell the tale of Sister Imperator; her beginnings and how she was led to the clergy. With art by Puste and colors by Thiago Rocha, readers get a full-color exploration of the horrors that await a young woman bound by the wickedness of a man of god, and how she escapes.
Sister Imperator #1 is definitely not for the weak of stomach or those questioning their faith. Our title character starts the story by torturing the man who ruined her life, with surprisingly religious overtones. The first issue is violent, heartbreaking and full of bloody revenge. In short, if you love the band Ghost, you’re going to love the start of this series.
