Silver Sprocket publishing has announced the reissuing of creator Ariel Slamet Ries’ graphic novella Cry Wolf Girl. This Ignatz Award-winning novella follows Dawa, a young girl in the midst of grief and struggling to find out whether her fears are real or a sign of something more terrifying. The new deluxe edition is foil-stamped and hardcovered, with additional behind-the-scenes details from Ries.
Dawa was always told she should never cry “wolf.” In the midst of her grief at losing her family, she turns to trickery during her heartbreak. While the rest of her village starts to disregard her warnings, Dawa soon starts to wonder if she’s really seeing a wolf or trapped in her own mental health challenges. The stark artwork sticks to a limited color palate that gives the graphic novella a dream-like quality, even when those dreams are nightmares.
Cry Wolf Girl comes to stores August 27, 2025.
