Author Christian Francis adapts the screenplay of Neil Marshall’s cult-classic horror film The Descent in this new official movie novelization. Almost a decade since its release, the film lingers in the memories of horror fans. For those who haven’t seen the movie, the book follows a group of friends who quickly discover that their friendships might not be as strong as the horrors they face.
After a tragic car accident, Sarah struggles to rebuild her life and her body. Having lost her husband and daughter, Sarah spends time being cared for by her friend Beth. When their mutual friend Juno recommends that they go on a caving expedition in the Appalachian Mountains, Sarah reluctantly agrees to go for Beth’s sake. Juno promises and easy but memorable experience, along with some other friends. Unfortunately, Juno’s unconventional cave adventure leaves them trapped underground with crippling darkness and creatures that begin to hunt them off one by one.
For those who loved The Descent film but want to know a bit more about the emotions of the characters and a tiny bit of backstory on the cave system, the novelization is a fun read for the Halloween season.
