Writer Jordan Thomas and artist Chris Matthews have teamed up for the new five-issue horror series, Exorcism Island. The miniseries is set to be digital only content for Comixology.
Exorcism Island follows Father Gigi Amato as he is sent to a remote Caribbean Island controlled by the Vatican. This is not some lovely tropical vacation destination, but rather an island where the most difficult demonic possession cases are housed away from others. There Father Amato finds a rather disgruntled and emotionally exhausted group of priests just trying to keep dangerous spirits from either killing the bodies they inhabit or rushing into pigs. Issue #1, for example, features one such demon fleeing from a body and into a pig, before brutalizing another pig. Of course, dark forces don’t want the priests to maintain a status quo and regularly find new and creative ways to torture the priests. The coloration on the artwork is an interesting combination of dark line work and bright colors, giving the panels a competing feel of light and dark.
