Writer Francesco Barill tells the story of Van Gogh’s life through a dialogue between the artist and his own madness. Artist Sakka’s art is a beautiful tribute to Vincent Van Gogh’s artwork. The gorgeous line art and reverse imagery give this entire graphic novel the feel of a dark dream. The emotional dialogue between Van Gogh and his depression explores the major losses Van Gogh suffered, as well as the moments of love he experiences. This graphic novel is emotionally fraught, so if you’re in a dark place, I recommend waiting to pick it up.
