‘The Art & Making of Highlander’ Captures the Creation of the 1986 Film

Who knew a script originally purchased for $1,500 could still be making such a pop culture impact?  Titan’s new release The Art & Making of Highlander explores the behind-the-scenes secrets of the 1986 cult classic with color photos, concept artwork, and fun trivia about a film that is still being threatened as an upcoming remake. From the casting of Christopher Lambert, Beatie Edney, Roxanne Hart and Clancy Brown to the descriptions of one week with the legendary Sean Connery, this coffee table style art book is a great way to spend an afternoon or planning a future cosplay.

Author Jonathan Melville does an excellent job of describing the creation of the film, compiling quotes and sharing stories about deleted scenes, faux pas, and costuming requirements. The book includes some poster art and even a quote from Queen’s Brian May on the music from the film.  One of my favorite pages is detailed close-up shots of the Highlander Katana (it never had to make sense, they had a Scottish Spaniard and a French Scotman). The images are catnip for people who love costume recreation and cosplay.

The Art & Making of Highlander is now available from Titan Books.
