Something Followed us Home is a brilliant new collection of horror edited by Cynthia Pelayo.  The collection features stories by Agustina Bazterrica, Isabel Cañas, Gerardo Sámano Córdova, Zoraida Córdova, Ann Dávila Cardinal, Mariana Enriquez, Carolina Flórez-Cerchiaro, Xochitl Gonzalez, Leopoldo Goût, Ananda Lima, Juan Martinez, Mónica Ojeda, Daniel José Older, Cynthia Pelayo, Lilliam Rivera, Diana Rodriguez Wallach, and Alex Segura.  Family secrets. Bones rebuilding themselves. A Cruise ship of the damned.  Something Followed us Home is devoted to modern Latiné horror. Each story has a narrative where something lingers with the characters, long after they’ve made it home or they think they have.

My favorite story in the collection is about a young woman working the tourist cruise ship rush in Puerto Rico for the first time. As the undead flow off the cruise ships, they flood stores for art and trinkets to take away with them, ripping apart some Puerto Ricans in the process. The story is an absolutely perfect look at the predatory nature of American tourism in Puerto Rico, without being preachy.

Something Followed Us Home is now available from Atria Books.
