The Kids Ain’t Okay: Release of ‘Goodnight Mommy’ Trailer

RADiUS Films released the first trailer for what is already being called one of the creepiest films of the year, Severin Fiala’s and Veronika Franz’s Goodnight Mommy.

MOMMY POSTER

Yup, you better hide your kiddies, because mama’s home, and something is just not right. And although her cherubic, adorably creepy twin boys are glad to have her back at first, it doesn’t take long for them to begin to pose the question: Is this their mom, or is this something else entirely?

“Goodnight Mommy” follows the story of twins Elias and Lukas after their mother comes home from reconstructive surgery. But with her startling appearance, bandaged like a mummy, and her detached demeanor, they boys begin to wonder who is really underneath the bandages.

The brand new psychological thriller looks like it will keep your brain on your toes. Is she just scarred by the events of a major surgery? Or has someone – or something – taken her place? And how can anyone be sure?

Franz and Fiala’s film has quickly become dubbed as “The Scariest Film of All Time.” And usually I would say that is all well and good, but usually end up disappointed due to build up. After a viewing of this trailer, though, I am impressed. I am genuinely creeped out by this, and that rarely happens. And as long as it isn’t another Babadook, I don’t see myself as being disappointed.
