‘Once Upon a Deadpool’ Benefits Charity and We’re All Winners Here

20th Century Fox is helping kids of most ages enjoy the Merc with a mouth this Christmas. The reimagining of Deadpool 2 is basically a PG-13 version “filtered through the prism of childlike innocence.”

“Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006,” Ryan Reynolds told Deadline. “I’ve said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘Yes’ on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…”

With the recent loss of William Goldman, it’s even more poignant that Fred Savage will be joining Ryan Reynolds by reliving his role from the 1987 film The Princess Bride as part of the gimmick for the film.

Every ticket sold in theaters will got to the charity Fudge Cancer, which is the cleaner version of the charity known as F*ck Cancer. They offered to change their name for the 12 days of the film’s release in theaters.
