‘Lumos’ is the Indie Harry and the Potters Album That Magically Exists Somehow

If indie music is your type of music and you are obsessed with Harry Potter, I’ve got a band you’re going to want to play on repeat. Harry and the Potters is coming out with their new album Lumos on June 21, 2019. At first listen, their music is a little like listening to the Decemberists and The Shins, if they were obsessed with Harry Potter.

Good Riddance (Privet Drive) feels like a straight up a take on Weezer song, but ends up in a world all it’s own. The lyric game is strong with this album, with the references coming from the last book of the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

In a world where there is a lot of darkness going on, Harry and the Potters are the type of cheery upbeat music that make you want to keep on fighting. As a perpetual Slytherin cynic with plans within plans, I wasn’t expecting to find myself tapping my toes and relistening to a band like Harry and the Potters, but here we are and I’m okay with it.
