To Ears With Love: American Hysteria

Share

To Ears With Love is a regular column about our favorite podcasts. Ever listen to a podcast, find it entrancing, only to binge listen to the whole thing and be left with nothing but silence or a bad goth music Spotify playlist (listen, I have one okay)? FangirlNation is here to help with some suggestions.

If you’re fascinated by conspiracy theories, the science behind Spritualism, The “Momo Suicide Challenge,” Germphobia, and the Mandela Effect, the American Hysteria podcast is going to be one of your new favorite subscribed podcasts. Host Chelesa Webber Smith is a phenomenal host and this podcast is well-researched and thought out, in addition to being a blast to listen to. Webber Smith gives you a great sense of why so many things that Americans regularly seem to panic over and go crazy about on social media are not really all that different, and usually the truth is much simpler and not as frightening.

There are also shorter episodes referred to as “Aftershocks” which cover brief topics like #FreeBrittany, things like griefbots and the Cooties game.   The only downside to this podcast is how easy it is to binge, before you realize that you have no more. Thankfully, new episodes are coming out regularly on Mondays.

American Hysteria is available on all major podcast platforms thanks to Skylark Media.
