New Zealand, Thank You for ‘Killer Sofa’

Ready for a ridiculous horror story this October? New Zealand has you covered with the new horror movie Killer Sofa. Couch meets girl. Couch kills all those that keep it from said girl. The film starts Jed Brophy, Sarah Munn, Stacy King, and Harley Neville.

Francesca has always had a strange power to attract weirdos, but her ex who was into dark magic takes things to a new level when he possessed a recliner. This new Dybbuk is delivered to Francesca. Her best friend Maxi does her best to try to understand what’s happening and is a supportive friend, but Francesca’s current boyfriend is a bit of a jerk about it; until he is attacked by…THE RECLINER. Meanwhile, Maxi’s grandfather, Jack (a disgraced Rabbi), tries to combat the forces of darkness inside the couch without getting everyone killed.

This movie is the utter ridiculous that I needed to make my day better. The gore special effects are absolutely terrible, in only the way a horror movie set in New Zealand with a killer recliner could be.  The film straight up starts with a curl almost getting her fingers cut off by evil couch magic.  My favorite part, however, was the regular appearance of a couch with button eyes on balconies, in windows, and just generally sneaking up behind someone.  Also, pro tip- don’t break into the house of a girl you’re obsessed with, but especially if her ex-boyfriend was just suddenly killed by an unknown force.

The actors play it straight and that someone makes everything strangely funnier.

Killer Sofa is available October 1, 2019 on DVD and VOD.
