Halloween 2019 – Where to Buy for DIY

Share

It’s October! That means it’s time to break out the sewing machine, cutting shears, spray paint, hot glue and craft foam so you can create a masterpiece to be enjoyed during a Halloween party, contest or just the night of All Hallows Eve. We’re here to give you tips on where to shop, why to shop there and who is delivering the best materials right on time for your creation(s)!

Craft Materials: Foams, Glues, Thermoplastics and More!

  • The Cosplay Pros: These folks deliver fast, have a plethora of cosplay/halloween materials and are VERY decently priced. I HIGHLY recommend them. They also have a 10% off promo for your first order!
  • Worbla: This company creates a wide variety of ThermoPlastics that are non-toxic, adhere to themselves and merely require a generic heat gun to activate. This material is COMPLETELY reusable too so if you mess up just mash it all together, roll it out thin (with a rolling pin or equivalent tool) and let it cool to get a reusable sheet!
  • JoAnn Fabrics: If you need fabric, sewing implements, jewely bits/bobs, craft foam, glitter and any other random craft item we recommend JoAnn Fabrics. Why them? Well, they have partnered with a lot of creators lately so their tools, materials and crafting items are competitively priced.
  • Home Depot OR Harbor Freight: If your creation requires power tools, advanced adhesives (like contact cement or quick set epoxy), wood or PVC then these hardware companies will be your best spot to find creative goodies!

Props & Accessories

  • Amber Brite Props: If you’re looking for pre-made horns or gunanas (aka a banana gun) then you’re at the right shop!
  • Spirit Halloween: Yes, they are VERY main stream but you can’t beat the prices on their wings, horns, ears, fake noses, mustaches, plastic axes, false teeth and more. Plus, they SHIP so you don’t have to go in store if you don’t want to 🙂
  • Rubber Wear: This is one unusual name BUT they offer INCREDIBLE facial prosthetics through AMAZON.
  • Arda Wigs OR Epic Cosplay: BOTH of these providers offer some of the BEST wigs. Each cap has adjustable straps, the strands/wefts sit NATURALLY and the colors…SO MANY COLORS!

If you’re looking for paints I recommend Liquitex (acrylic, water based). They don’t eat through ANY material and are very easy to work with. You can also use FolkArt but take care to not leave the lids open on those (they dry out VERY fast). Be on the look out for our next article proposing places to ORDER YOUR COSTUME from.
