Witches, covens, sex, and diversity? Oh yeah, I’m in. Sex, Death and Revolution written by Magdalene Visaggio centers around a New York witch still dealing with her coven disolving. What follows is a gritty and fascinating look into witchcraft, personal relationships and what changes means and how scary change can be.
Now, don’t let the graphic novel fool you: this is not for kids and not safe for work. There are some adult themes and language in here and frankly, I am here for it.
The art style is vibrant, the story is gripping and the whole time I just kept wanting to press deeper and deeper into this world. As someone who has dabbled in some of the occult, I really appreciated the graphic novel’s take on magic and sorcery. I appreciated the diverse cast and I appreciated the attention to detail.
This graphic novel is thoughtful, riveting and a roller-coaster all the way through and I cannot recommend it enough.
Sex, Death and Revolution is out now from Black Mask Studios.
