It’s almost Spooky season! As soon as Halloween night ends, the holiday season will arrive in full swing. Now is the perfect time to get crafty, and start making your own decorative wreaths to celebrate what I feel is the best time of year. If you’re not sure where to start, that’s okay! Dover Publications recently released the perfect guide, which is called Wreaths for Every Season: 24 Projects to Make Throughout the Year.
About The Guide
Author Stasie McArthur takes the reader through the ins and outs of crafting the perfect wreath, and gives several unique ideas for every holiday, whether it’s Easter, the 4th of July, or Christmas. These aren’t wreaths you can simply buy in just any store because they are too original. I personally love that there are a variety of wreath designs to choose from, so it’s up to you to decide if you want a blast of color on your front door, or if you’d prefer something more simple and elegant.
If you’re an avid crafter, this book will surely serve as a new source of inspiration. My friends who cosplay even say that having a wreath to work on gives them a project that fills the void of creating costumes for conventions, which of course aren’t happening this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But if you’re like me and are new to crafting, this book is still easy enough to follow to make it accessible to any level of crafter. McArthur clearly states what supplies are needed for each wreath, and gives easily understandable instructions for every step of the project. Pictures are also provided for every step, so there is a visual indicator to know you are on the right track. Plus, many of the supplies you need are items you likely already have in your own home, which makes crafting your wreath a fairly inexpensive endeavor.
First Hand Experience
While my home city was under Coronavirus lockdown, I used my free time to try my hand at crafting several of the wreaths. So far, I’ve made the Pastel Butterfly Wreath and the Fourth of July Rag Wreath, and I hope to make the Rustic Wheel Wreath next. I’ve gotten lots of compliments from neighbors who have seen the wreaths on my front door, and I’m considering making some of the wreaths to give away as thoughtful gifts as we get closer to the holidays. Some of the wreaths are also suitable for an entire season instead of just one holiday, so you can craft and display a new wreath anytime inspiration hits.
