Return of the Sorceress Cover Revealed

The Return of the Sorceress by Silvia Moreno-Garcia cover revielFirst, have you read Mexican Gothic? If not, go read it! It is a creepy Gothic with the best kind of heroine–one who realizes that she isn’t insane and still has to deal with the mess around her. After that, pick up Gods of Jade and Shadow which has another heroine dealing with not-Gothic, but still fantastic, things while remaining quite firmly convinced of her sanity. Then.you can settle down with the rest of Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s books, something I need to do myself. This will help pass the time while we wait for The Return of the Sorceress–and if you don’t love that title, I don’t know what to do with you!

The book comes out sometime in the summer of 2021 and has a glorious, just-revealed cover by Fang Xinyu. The haunting cover shows the sorceress in action, focused on whatever working she is doing. Like the heroines in Mexican Gothic and Gods of Jade and Shadow, she looks capable of handling any amount of strangeness, secure in her skills. Unlike the cover, the description provided by the publisher leaves a little something to be desired. At the moment, Subterranean Press is describing it as “a magical journey of revenge and redemption,” which could be said of any number of books. Knowing who is writing, the novella will be distinctive, punchy, and memorable, but I am still looking forward to some detail in the future.

How about you? Are you looking forward to Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s next? Have you got a favorite among her books so far? Which one should I pick up next?
