Baby Yoda Reads: This is the Poster You’ve been Looking For

Share

ALA The Child aka Grogu Read PosterRight, so the title was low-hanging fruit. I can’t help it; I grew up with Star Wars, and I will add quotations from it wherever I can. Anyway, the chances are that you, or someone you know, really is looking for this poster. The American Library Association (ALA) is responsible for all those fun posters you see hanging in libraries and bookstores all over, the posters that encourage everyone to READ., and they have just released a new one featuring the cute little star of The Mandalorian. Baby Yoda AKA The Child AKA Kid AKA Grogu (my least favorite of his names) from The Mandalorian stands in his favorite innocent child pose holding a bright red book. The words “This is the Way” are written in white right below the familiar ALA all caps READ.

If you love reading, The Mandalorian, and cute baby muppets but don’t want a poster, there is also a bookmark. This is handy if you’re still reading those old-fashioned, physical books made out of paper and happen to want one (I am, and I do).

The American Library Association (ALA) is a 501c3 non-profit. All proceeds from the Baby Yoda poster, or any other site item sale, will fund advocacy, awareness, and accreditation programs for library professionals worldwide. As my favorite refrain is “libraries are awesome!” you can guess I’m a fan. There are over thirty years worth of READ posters, including a number of Star Wars images. A number are available on their site. A word of warning: Plan to spend time looking if you visit the site just to look. There are a log of wonderful posters (which is good), and the keyword search is a bit wonky (which is not so good). Because of that last bit, I have linked directly to the poster and the available Star Wars posters above.

So–who wants the Child encouraging them to pick up a good book and read? Perhaps you’d like a bowl of soup while you wait?
