Kickstarter Round Up 6/14

And we’re back again! Welcome to our weekly Kickstarter Round Up!

Today we start off with, The Abominable Charles Christopher by Karl Kerschl which launches today!

A dim-witted sasquatch bumbles his way into a series of woodland adventures in this award-winning comic series.

Charles Christopher is an abominable… something… searching for his identity in a forest full of chatty animals, all of whom need his help (whether they know it or not). The story began way back in 2007 as a long-form webcomic inspired by The Epic of Gilgamesh. It’s been collected in two self-published volumes to date, chronicling Charles’ adventures through the Cedar Forest and into the kingdom of the bratty child-king. Now, the long-awaited third volume is here to continue Charles’ story!

Next we have, Madeline’s Good Dirt and Junk Collection by Madeline Berger, launching on June 15th (that’s tomorrow!).

A graphic novel that explores urban treasure hunting, micro-communities, and DIY.

This is a project that is a celebration of things that we take for granted and often let us pass us by. Madeline is a strong proponent for community, often finding inspiration in local queer culture, art culture, and their friends and fellow artists. This project taps into how they would like people to perceive different parts of their community and different parts of their neighborhood that people don’t always tap into and often take for granted.

Also launching tomorrow, Big Mood by David Daneman.

Awkward & anxious comics from Poorly Drawn Lines, Lunarbaboon, False Knees, Bev’s Boredom, and many more!

BIG MOOD will be an 88-page, full-color collection of 25 of the best webcomic artists contributing their best awkwardness and anxiety comics. These comics will remind you of your own foibles while soothing your soul by proving you are not alone. TL;DR — everybody is weird!

Also, also launching tomorrow, is Destiny, NY: Volumes 1–5 by Pat Shand.

The long-running indie epic is back for a landmark FIFTH VOLUME!

The stakes have never been higher in DESTINY, NY! The first four volumes introduced the story of former prophecy girl Logan McBride and her mysterious girlfriend, Lilith Aberdine, the last surviving daughter of a mystical crime family. Life and fate pulled them together… and then apart. Now, Logan lives across the country in California, and a possibility of a long prison sentence hangs over Lilith’s head.

If you’re looking for something really funny there is, Good Boy #1: Old Dog by Garrett Gunn.

They killed his human. He wants revenge.

“Let’s start with the obvious. Yes, this is a parody of a VERY popular film franchise. However, there’s a lot more to it than that, and we hope you will see what we are building towards. Now, Christy and I are both in love with Good Boy for separate reasons, but the one thing we agree on is creating a dynamic and engaging story that feels both familiar AND brand new. This book is a culmination of all our favorite things — primarily dogs and violent action sequences.”

Lastly,  there are the art books. Two of them, both with beautiful ideas behind them.

Tumble: The Art of Chris Hong

and

Rêverie: The Art of Sibylline Meynet

There are always so many to choose from, so make sure you check out Kickstarter.

And we’ll see you next week with our next round up!
