Organizing Your Enamel Pin Hoard

Share

If you’re anything like me (a longtime nerd ) you probably have a clutch of enamel pins somewhere in a box, on a plate or attached to one of many old and out of use backpacks or convention bags. And if you’re anything like me…you have since lost several of those pins. Well, fear not, your Prince is here to help you store and display your enamel pins, charms and patches!

The Simple DIY Way

I went with the simple solution for my first go with organizing my pins and charms or one of many simple routes. I picked up some thin canvas boards in bulk from Jo-Ann Fabrics and painted them with nice bright colors and LOTS of glitter. This gives a neutral but still really fun background and plenty of thickness to allow your pins to go through and to stick. For this first round I kept them on my bookshelves. There are other steps you can take like putting a frame on these boards or hanging them using ribbon or twine but these were simple shelf decor for me that may get some easels in the future.

The Slightly More Advanced  DIY Way

If you are comfortable working with fabric, phase two of my “get the pins out of the pile” will be hanging pendants of fabric and cork board! I happen to have a hoard of fabric too so this will be a great use of fabric for me and I am using adhesive cork board to give the whole thing some structure and something for the pins to really stick to! I’m also planning on hanging these with the help of some wooden dowels and a little bit of wire or honestly, ribbon or twine would work just fine. The object of the game for me at least has been to use what I have.

The Capitalism Won Out Way

Plenty of very talented creators are available to make you the pin board of your dreams. I’ve seen cakes (which I would adore, by the way! Please support this creator in particular; her stuff is AMAZING), elaborate hanging structures, pendants and entire color themed framed boards. Don’t feel bad if you don’t have the time, spoons or skill to make a pin board or pin storage system of your own: we’ve all been there

I hope you all have found this post helpful! I can’t wait to see your enamel pin storage!
