It’s nearly Christmas and Hellboy is in Iceland. After a series of strange sightings and missing sheep go public, Hellboy discovers that the infamous Yule Cat may be behind it all. This one-shot follows the Jólakötturinn, an Icelandic legendary cat that eats those who have not received new clothes to wear before Christmas Eve. Once a tale to get people to finish all their chores before the end of the year, the legend becomes a real threat. The Hellboy Winter Special: The Yule Cat is written and drawn by Matt Smith, with colors by Chris O’Halloran, and letters by Clem Robins.
A someone who loves dark Christmas tales and creatures, this one-shot has been one of my favorite things to come out of this holiday season. My only complaint is that this is a one-shot. I’d love to see more set in Iceland.
