Actresses Sarah Skeist and Jewells Blackwell have teamed up to create the new Youtube show Two-Mara. The show imagines actresses Kate and Rooney Mara as if they had their own Youtube channel and were trying to create weekly viral content. While Kate is doing her best to bond with her sister Rooney does all she can to sabotage the Youtube show.
According to Blackwell, she’d always dreamed of playing roles that Rooney Mara is cast in, like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. What happened was a show created with literally 15 minutes of research into the film and interview styles of Kate and Rooney Mara, and a weird desire to act it out.
“I gave myself permission to write as weird as what is actually in my head,” Skeist says, “And Two-Mara is it.”
“Two-Mara is a deranged love song to our sisters—biological or chosen— about the ways in which we both punish and seek approval from the people we love.”
