The Squirtle (Kkobugi) sheet mask by Pokémon and TONYMOLY is an easy and cute way to hydrate your skin. It’s the skincare equivalent of using Squirtle’s hydro pump attack to your skin’s benefit. This mask uses the power of lotus to provide maximum hydration to your skin.
Right now, self-care is especially important due to the stress caused by COVID-19, which is why I was excited to review the Bulbasaur sheet mask by Pokémon and TONYMOLY.
After another week in quarantine, you know I was more than ready to take on this Squirtle sheet mask. There’s no better skincare than kawaii skincare and the same applies to self-care! Let’s face it: Squirtle is absolutely adorable. Plus, if I learned anything from my last review, it’s that using a Pokémon’s power to benefit my skin is always a good time.
Like Bulbasaur, Squirtle is one of the starter pokémon options from Gen 1 in the Red/Blue versions of the Gameboy game. “Kkobugi” is the Korean name for Squirtle, which is why it’s prominently featured on this skincare product’s package. The pastel blue evokes feelings of calmness and lightheartedness from within me. This is fitting because the sheet mask contains Lotus, a flower that has many soothing skincare benefits to offer. For instance, because Lotus is rich in antioxidants, it acts as a conditioning agent for your skin. It’s also great for moisturizing skin, which means it’s extra beneficial if you’re prone to dry skin. Other than the Lotus, this sheet mask appears to have similar ingredients to the Bulbasaur one from the Pokémon x TONYMOLY collaboration.
When I first put on this sheet mask, it felt exactly how I expected it to feel: wet! Hydration is the name of this face mask’s game, so I was satisfied with knowing the mask would seal the moisture onto my skin, allowing my face to absorb more of the serum. Please note that although hydration is the Squirtle sheet mask’s purpose, hydration is also one of the key skincare benefits of sheet masks in general.
After I smoothed the mask onto my face, I laid down and meditated for a bit. I used affirmations and visualizations to pack more self-care into my little pampering session. I could tell my facial skin was getting some much-needed hydration from this mask. This was when I noticed the mask didn’t have a smell. When I say this mask has no smell, I mean it smells like nothing. That means it’s perfect for anyone who’s sensitive to smells.
The serum on the sheet mask felt lightweight on my skin, but a little heavier than the serum on the Bulbasaur mask. I could tell I was essentially slathering my face with moisture, but it felt more like a healing balm than having Squirtle water gun me directly in the face. By the time 20 minutes was up (though the package said I could’ve waited for 30), the mask was completely used up. Once I took the mask off, I massaged the serum into my face and neck, savoring every last bit. My face was officially a happy camper!

My biggest criticism is that they don’t have a sheet mask for Snorlax. Other than that, these sheet masks are totally rad and I especially recommend them to people of the otaku persuasion.
