Mystery author Greer Larkin’s disappearance has plagued an entire community fascinated by true crime. June Masterson, is an aspiring filmmaker desperately to get her first documentary off the ground. Why not focus on the one writing she’s poured over for most of her life? Initially, June thinks its going to be a fairly straightforward story. After all, everyone has their own theories. Greer’s best friend, Rachel, believes that Greer’s fiancé Jonathan must have killed her, and Greer’s mother agrees. Greer’s agent has always assumed that their client committed suicide when writer’s block became too much. Jonathan, the ex fiancé, is convinced that Rachel was far closer with Greer than a normal friendship might cover. When Rachel gives June a suitcase of Greer’s personal writing, they both hope that June can find the answer. Unfortunately, Rachel is found dead quickly after and June finds herself in the path of a killer.
